Images in this series comprise portraits of trees. The portraits are reflections of my inner state and childhood memories; each tree has its own personality. For one year, I photographed trees within near my house – the goal to create images from the ordinary and mundane. Some of the later images are from travels in France. Whether made domestically or abroad, the images attest to nature’s universality and my longing for nature. In most cases, I used 6×7 negative films and scanned for digital printing. I experimented with printing on rice paper which were then used for artist books and installation.
